{"id":3063,"date":"2017-07-06T10:20:37","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T14:20:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matawinie.qc.ca\/?p=3063"},"modified":"2017-07-06T10:20:37","modified_gmt":"2017-07-06T14:20:37","slug":"forest-edible-harvesting-identification-training-pfnl-plus-a-few-days-register","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/matawinie.qc.ca\/en\/news\/forest-edible-harvesting-identification-training-pfnl-plus-a-few-days-register\/","title":{"rendered":"Training in the identification and harvesting of forest edibles (NTFPs); only a few days left to register."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SADC Matawinie and AFL would like to remind nature lovers and those keen on botanical and gustatory discoveries to hurry up, because the 6<sup>e<\/sup>\u00a0edition of the Lanaudi\u00e8re non-timber forest product (NTFP) identification and harvesting training course<\/strong>. <strong>This unique training program is attracting a great deal of regional and provincial interest.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NTFPs are a world to discover: wild mushrooms, forest vegetables, berries, northern nuts, medicinal plants, etc.<\/strong>. The aim of the training program is to develop a workforce that is competent in the field and likely to work for local companies, or to start up their own business projects. Internships (not compulsory) are also offered to enable participants to explore employment prospects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The four training modules are designed to develop skills in agroforestry and focus on the various uses of this resource in a commercial context (sales, processing, catering).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer and autumn modules : <\/strong>From late July to mid-December, participants will be introduced to permaculture and the picker's ethic \/ NTFPs for forest gastronomy \/ summer mycology \/ Quebec trees and shrubs and inventory techniques, artisanal transformation: basketry, soap-making and use of essential oils \/ fall mycology \/ introduction to Nordic nuts \/ environmental and forestry laws and regulations \/ introduction to the plant world.<br \/>\n<strong>Winter and spring modules :<\/strong> From late January to mid-June, orientation, map and compass \/ starting a NTFP business \/ hygiene and sanitation for the facility manager \/ from forest to plate \/ permaculture and forest garden 1 \/ Lanaudi\u00e8re forest ecosystems \/ medicinal plants: harvesting and cultivation, properties, use and processing \/ advanced mycology and spring mycology \/ permaculture and forest garden 2 \/ gourmet NTFPs from spring, edges and wastelands, will be on the menu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aflanaudiere.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/PlanCoursPFNL1718_Final.pdf\">Consult the 2017-2018 program\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application procedure - up to and including July 17 to submit your application*.<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aflanaudiere.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Procedure-Inscription.pdf\">Registration procedure<\/a>\u00a0 and the required documents.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aflanaudiere.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Formulaire-Inscription.docx\">Registration form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Information and registration<br \/>\n<\/strong>St\u00e9phanie Lord, AFL : T. 450 836-1851, ext. 5 | \u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:slord@aflanaudiere.org\">slord@aflanaudiere.org<br \/>\n<\/a>Emmanuelle Lefebvre, SADC Matawinie : T. 450 883-0717, ext. 222 |\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"mailto:elefebvre@matawinie.qc.ca\">elefebvre@matawinie.qc.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This training course is offered by the Association foresti\u00e8re de Lanaudi\u00e8re (AFL) and the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d'aide au d\u00e9veloppement de la collectivit\u00e9 (SADC) Matawinie, in collaboration with the Service aux entreprises et \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9, of the Centre multiservice des Samares.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The AFL, which has been present throughout the Lanaudi\u00e8re region since 2003, organizes and distributes a wide range of educational activities in primary and secondary schools, for adults in training, and for the general public. In collaboration with municipalities and other regional organizations, it also develops activities to enhance natural spaces, as well as natural science and outdoor activities. Every summer for the past 3 years, it has welcomed groups of youngsters aged 6 to 11 to its week-long Arboria day camp.<\/p>\n<p>SADC Matawinie is a non-profit socio-economic development organization that has been contributing to the vitality of its community for 25 years. True to its mandate, it offers flexible financial products to start-up, growth and succession businesses.
