The Conseil de développement bioalimentaire de Lanaudière (CDBL) and the SADCs of Lanaudière, in collaboration with Tourisme Lanaudière, are launching the Eligibility guide and standardsa tool designed to support local gourmet businesses in the sustainable and responsible preparation of their takeaway boxes.

This practical guide presents clear standards to encourage the use of reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging materials, and aims to reduce the environmental impact generated by takeaway food boxes. In addition to proposing concrete recommendations adapted to various types of food products, including a majority of local and regional products, it encourages an eco-design approach and promotes local and eco-responsible suppliers. By complying, restaurateurs and producers not only help to preserve the environment, but also enhance the perceived quality of their offering, thus meeting the growing expectations of customers concerned about their ecological footprint.

Entirely financed by the SADCs of Lanaudière, this project stems from needs raised by both the Comité de gestion du développement touristique de D'Autray and Tourisme Lanaudière's Plan montagnes consultations. Papineau&CO, a local firm specializing in packaging design, optimization and technology, was commissioned to carry out a study on the eco-design of gourmet baskets.
