Call for projects: Non-repayable funding for the rehabilitation, improvement and expansion of community halls

The Government of Canada supports local investment throughout Quebec.

The Government of Canada reaffirms its long-term commitment to supporting the development of Quebec communities. The new Local investment initiative (IIL) announced today by the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, will provide non-repayable financial assistance to non-profit organizations and municipalities with populations of less than 2,000 for the refurbishment, improvement or expansion of existing community halls.

  • L'IIL is a one-time initiative specific to Canada Economic Development, delivered as part of its activities under the Québec Economic Development Program.
  • This new initiative will strengthen the economy of communities across Quebec, with a total budget of $6 million over two years.
  • This budget will be allocated in the form of non-repayable contributions to recipients meeting specific eligibility criteria and selected through a call for proposals that will be in effect from May 2, 2014 to June 6, 2014.
  • This new initiative will help create long-term economic development capacity in Quebec communities. It will stimulate local investment while providing the population with more functional, safe and adapted community halls, better able to meet their needs.
