Over 225 jobs will be maintained and 40 jobs created for local residents thanks to an investment of 1,455,000 $ by the Government of Canada in two well-established Lanaudière companies.
The announcement was made by David Lametti, Member of Parliament for LaSalle - Émard - Verdun and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
The Plastiques GPR inc.the largest manufacturing employer in the Matawinie region, aims to acquire state-of-the-art equipment. Thanks to a contribution of 1,260,000 $, the company will purchase two injection molding machines. It will be better equipped to meet customer demands, and its employees will benefit from technological equipment to help them do their jobs. By increasing its production capacity and improving productivity, Plastiques GPR will be able to offer quality jobs to the local population.
On his side, Syri ltée receives financial assistance of 195,000 $. It will be able to offer quality jobs thanks to the acquisition of a laser cutting table and a bending machine. In addition, the ERP (enterprise resource planning) software will enable the company to improve productivity, cut costs and ensure greater flexibility in its manufacturing process.
These funds, in the form of repayable contributions, are granted under the Québec Economic Development Program DEC, as part of the broader Innovation and skills plan from the Government of Canada. The plan calls for multi-year investments to make Canada a global hub for innovation. It will also create even more high-paying jobs and foster growth of the middle class.
