The SADC is proud to have collaborated in the realization of this project. A new destination for rustic camping in the Matawinie RCM.
On June 21, students from École secondaire des Montagnes in Saint-Michel-des-Saints proudly inaugurated their rustic campsite on Ile Baribeau. The event was an opportunity to thank the partners who support and believe in this project. For some students, the arrival of summer also means working on a wonderful campsite. The students are getting ready to welcome vacationers in an enchanting setting. Now in its first year, the project will enable four students to create their own jobs, while others are already on the board of directors of the non-profit organization Jeunes entrepreneurs Haute-Matawinie (JEHM).
The owners of "Camping rustique JEHM" are not new to the island. Since June 4, a group of a dozen students have been busy developing camping sites, clearing land and certain activity areas, building a walking trail with a historical flavour, and so on. Their first customer was a school activity day on June 16. During the summer, a mini hebertism park will be under construction. It's to be expected that other good ideas will emerge year after year.
Much more than a campsite, because the project creates jobs for young people, it stimulates their entrepreneurial spirit and their social and communication skills.
