On June 22, the Société d'aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) Matawinie celebrated 25 years of history and achievements, in the company of its members, partners and many former employees and directors. The event was an opportunity for guests to reflect on the organization's raison d'être and history, and to look to the future.
As early as its creation in 1992, the organization was already showing innovation by asking the federal government to integrate financing and local development within a single organization. From the Centres d'aide aux entreprises (CAE) and Centres d'aide au développement de la collectivité (CADC) that were known at the time, Matawinie gave birth to the very first SADC," explains Alain Coutu, a founding member of the organization. It was with great pride that he pointed out to the audience that SADC Matawinie has always stayed the course, despite the challenges, and even gone beyond its simple mission to meet the specific needs of the community.
Over 60 M $ in investments generated by its two main funds
Over the past 25 years, SADC has made an indelible mark on the development of the region, through its many achievements in community consultation, forestry, information technology, youth, entrepreneurship and many other sectors. The organization has constantly adapted to local needs, modulating its service offering and working closely with local organizations. Since its creation, more than 60 M $ have been generated in the MRC, through investments made by the Fonds d'investissement and the Stratégie jeunesse program. Numerous programs have also been deployed to contribute to the creation and growth of local businesses. SADC President Chantal Bruneau thanked all the employees and directors who have contributed their expertise and time to the organization. There have been 31 employees and 86 directors over the years.
SADC Matawinie is now looking to the future. "It's through the revision of the Community Futures Program (CFP), which governs Quebec's SADCs and BDCs, that we'll be able to maintain our role as a development player, and even, who knows, go further to respond to new realities," mentions Jonathan Landreville, General Manager of SADC Matawinie. Among other things, he announced that a wide-ranging consultation will be carried out in the autumn, to validate the community's level of satisfaction with the organization and to take the pulse of expectations regarding the service offering and the role of local development support. This survey will guide the organization in its strategic orientations for the coming years!
