With a significant increase in authorized financing and jobs created
SADC Matawinie presented its 2016-2017 activity report at its annual general meeting held on June 22 at the Rawdon Golf Club. Extraordinary results were achieved during the year, bearing witness to the territory's economic recovery. A significant rise in authorized financing was achieved, generating increased investment in the territory and significant job creation.
4,279,377 $ IN INVESTMENTS GENERATED IN MATAWINIE
Business consolidation and job preservation were a priority for the organization in this period of economic recovery. In all, twenty-three (23) business projects were supported for a total of 1,085,650 $ in authorized financing. A total of 54 new jobs were created, representing a significant increase of 181 % over the last five (5) years. In addition, the organization noted an increase of 75 % in authorized financing via its main investment fund, again compared with the last five (5) years, which augurs well for an economic revival in the region, and therefore a wind of optimism.
A MUST IN LOCAL DEVELOPMENT
In its role as a partner in local economic development, the organization was proud to present its main initiatives and achievements for 2016-2017.
First of all, this year's new small business support program will have helped four (4) companies implement their strategic web marketing and succession plans, for a total of 16,000 $. The program will be back for the next two years. The new Entreprendre Matawinie website was certainly one of the year's greatest achievements, presenting 29 business opportunities and some 30 commercial spaces for sale or lease. An important showcase to stimulate the creation of new businesses on the territory. In closing, the team highlighted some of the other major achievements, including the business people's rotating dinner, the Savoir entreprendre training program, and the many other training courses given in connection with retail and non-timber forest products. All these initiatives, to support the region's economic dynamism, represent a total investment of 28,000 $.
The Board of Directors and the SADC Matawinie team are very proud of the work accomplished over the past year, and look forward to 2017 with great enthusiasm. We invite you to consult the activity report at www.matawinie.qc.ca.
