792,675 $ invested in the community for over $5.9 million in spin-offs
SADC Matawinie presented its 2014-2015 activity report at its annual general meeting held on June 18 in Saint-Jean-de-Matha. Often presented as the gateway to any development project, SADC Matawinie has demonstrated its ability to adapt and innovate in this year of great change. Business consolidation and job preservation were a priority for the organization during this period of economic slowdown. SADC took the opportunity to highlight the impact of its interventions and investments. In fact, every dollar invested by SADC has generated more than 7.44 $ in the community, an important leverage effect for wealth creation in Matawinie. Partnership, advisory services and business follow-up are all part of the organization's way of doing things, and make a difference to the survival rate of businesses and the success of projects.
761,675 $ INVESTED IN MATAWIN COMPANIES On several occasions, SADC Matawinie's financing has been used to complete a financing request made to a financial institution. It's financing that makes a difference! SADC's expertise is recognized by financial partners, and joint loans enable risk sharing. These two factors considerably increase entrepreneurs' chances of having their application for global financing accepted. 21 % of our financing was used to convince a financial institution to get involved in our customers' projects. Without SADC's financial participation, their financing application would not have been successful. Our business advisors work hand in hand with entrepreneurs to present a viable business project that can be financed according to their borrowing capacity. That's one of the advantages of doing business with our organization. The SADC invested 761,675 $ in 2014-2015 in businesses in the territory, helping to maintain and create 106 jobs. These investments generated investments of 5.7 M $ in the community. While the bulk of the financing granted enabled the consolidation of existing businesses, 33 $% of the funding was granted to foster the emergence of new businesses.
A MUST IN LOCAL DEVELOPMENT Over the past year, SADC's intervention priorities have been completely overhauled, in order to be more efficient in terms of staffing and to have the greatest impact on the Matawinie community. New this year is the highly successful Souper tournant des gens d'affaires, now the annual gathering of MRC Matawinie entrepreneurs. Through its interventions and initiatives, the SADC aims to revitalize the community and play a key role in development. "The announcement in December of the forthcoming abolition of the CLD Matawinie, an important development partner for our MRC, will lead us to review our collaboration with the aim of better supporting our community. We're pleased to be able to maintain our services, which will now be offered through the Matawinie RCM's Service de développement local et régional. More than ever, we want to be ahead of community needs, and we have the ability to adapt that is the strength of Quebec's 57 SADCs and 10 CAEs," emphasized Chantal Bruneau, President of the organization. This year, 21,000 $ were invested in support of various development projects, generating spin-offs of 250,000 $.
TIME TO TAKE STOCK FOR OUTGOING GENERAL MANAGER M. MICHEL CLÉMENT Michel Clément completed his three (3) year term with the organization on March 31, and took the opportunity to thank the members of the Board of Directors and the permanent team for their confidence in him. Restructuring the business development department, raising the organization's profile, and preparing a successor for the position of General Manager were his main mandates, and he now leaves his position as General Manager with a sense of accomplishment. Mr. Clément will remain with the organization as a consultant until fall 2015. He wished SADC's new General Manager the best of luck: "Congratulations to Mr. Jonathan Landreville on his appointment. He possesses all the skills required for the position of General Manager. I wish him continued dedication to the SADC over the past ten (10) years, as well as a keen interest in achieving objectives that benefit the economic development of the Matawinie RCM." The Board of Directors, as well as the SADC Matawinie team, are very proud of the investments generated and look forward to 2015 with great enthusiasm.
