The MRC launches a strategic planning process: Matawinie seen and imagined by the players on its territory

The Regional County Municipality (RCM) is pleased to announce the launch of a major strategic planning initiative for its territory. The aim of the process is to draw up a current portrait of the territory, define its issues, and then decide, together, on a vision and actions to be implemented. We're also committed to the implementation of forward-looking, unifying projects that will define the Matawinie region, promote its development and ensure its influence over the next five years.

To determine the most inclusive, unifying and representative methodology possible, a multidisciplinary steering committee was set up, bringing together elected officials, chamber of commerce directors and representatives of institutions actively contributing to the development of Matawinie. In order to
To ensure an accurate representation of needs, the committee opted for a two-phase information gathering process.

An initial exploratory phase of interviews is currently underway. This will enable us to take stock of the territory and define its challenges. These will be addressed in a second phase of wide-ranging consultation with the largest possible number of economic players in the Matawinie region.

"When I ran for MRC prefect, I made a commitment to carry out a strategic planning process. So I'm very proud to be able to announce the launch of this process, which is intended to be inclusive and participatory. It's important to us that people take ownership of the project, so as to have a collective vision of our territory's future. That's why the MRC planned no fewer than 30 interviews during its exploratory phase. As for the second consultation phase, the entire community will be invited to express its views on the various issues identified earlier. I sincerely hope that this strategic plan will become the guide and guiding light for all organizations collaborating in the development of the Matawinie region," stated Sylvain Breton, MRC Prefect.

According to the proposed timetable, the information-gathering stages should be completed by the end of 2019. The MRC could therefore be in a position to unveil, during 2020, the 2020-2025 Matawinie Action Plan, proposed by the players on its territory. The MRC Council would like to
would like to thank its Local and Regional Development Department (SDLR) for its support and coordination of the various stages essential to the success of this project.
