On May 24, the Municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci proudly launched its new strategic plan for sustainable development. Citizens, local organizations and associations came to hear the results of the process initiated by the municipal council in autumn 2013. hese action plans will enable the municipal council and the team of permanent staff to ensure that development is consistent with the needs of the permanent population and cottagers alike.
Many ideas were put forward to improve the quality of life in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci: small local shops, entertainment venues, a public market, recreation and tourism, a gathering place, community spaces, promotion of tourist attractions, accommodation facilities, etc. However, one element came up again and again: the creation of an attractive, dynamic village center, both in community and economic terms. However, there was one recurring theme: the creation of an attractive, dynamic village heart, both in community and economic terms. Roxanne Turcotte, mayor of Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci, mentions that it is a priority to undertake negotiations with the Quebec government to create the Rue Principale on the section of Route 125 between Chemin du Canard-Blanc and Chemin des Artisans. The council's second priority is to update the municipality's urban plan to incorporate the objectives and actions stipulated in the action plan.
We invite all those interested in consulting the strategic plan for sustainable development to contact the municipality at 819 424-2113. We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the collaboration of the Centre local de développement (CLD) Matawinie, the Centres locaux de services communautaires (CLSC), and the Société d'aide au développement (SADC) de la Matawinie.
