On June 12, Saint-Damien's citizen animation process was reviewed with enthusiasm and pride. Some thirty citizens involved in various committees presented the priorities for action on which they have worked over the past year, as well as their achievements and ongoing actions.
The six (6) committees working to improve the quality of life in St-Damien respond to the priorities identified in a development plan:
- Stimulate economic development and tourism, while promoting job creation;
- Develop leisure activities;
- Collectif art et culture;
- Beautifying the heart of the village;
- Enhancing and preserving natural potential;
- Provide a favorable living environment for the citizens of Saint-Damien.
Over the past year, these committees, made up of citizens and municipal councillors, have carried out numerous projects that have greatly contributed to the vitality of Saint-Damien. These achievements include the relaunch of the Perseid Festival from August 8 to 11 This unique event will take the whole family on a fascinating journey. For its part, the Collectif art et culture has organized a full program of cultural activities on September 28as part of the 17e edition of the Journées de la culture. In terms of leisure activities, a committee proceeded to installation of iron play equipment, created access to Lake Matambin with dock for fishing enthusiasts and support for the recreation department. The beautification committee has launched a contest, St-Damien in bloomA group of citizens then contributed to the beautification of the municipality. A group of citizens then contributed to the home and seniors services.
All these actions contribute to achieving the objectives of Saint-Damien's development plan, whose priorities for action were established in November 2010 and June 2011, via an extensive consultation process. It's thanks to the political will and commitment of the various players in the community that the citizens' initiative is bearing fruit and contributing to the vitality of this small municipality.
The process continues, and several ideas are already on the drawing board. The committee invites you to participate in large numbers in the major summer events organized by citizen groups:
