3RD EDITION OF THE "SOUPER TOURNANT DES GENS D'AFFAIRES EN MATAWINIE

MANAWAN COMMUNITY TAKES TOP HONORS

The Souper tournant des gens d'affaires was back for a 3^e edition in the Matawinie RCM, and once again drew a full house. Nearly a hundred people took part in the networking event held on May 18 at the Rawdon Golf Club. Entrepreneurs, economic development partners, municipal representatives and the Conseil des Atikamekw de Manawan took advantage of this unique networking opportunity to develop new business ties. Organized by the Société d'aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) Matawinie, the event was supported by Desjardins entreprises, a major partner. The evening ended on a high note with the unveiling of the 2016 Municipalité en lumière award, presented to the Atikamekw community of Manawan.

This event, now recognized as a Matawinie's annual gathering of entrepreneursThe event attracted businesses from all four (4) corners of the MRC. A number of promotional forums were given over to the entrepreneurs in attendance, allowing them to showcase new businesses on the territory and promote new products and events at existing companies. The evening was a great opportunity to highlight the economic dynamism present in Matawinie and to celebrate our successes.

Municipality in the spotlight

For the second year running, SADC Matawinie presented the Municipalité en lumière award at the event. This award recognizes the important contribution of a municipality or aboriginal community to the economic development of its community, and by extension, the MRC Matawinie. Mr. Jonathan Landreville, General Manager of SADC Matawinie, and Mr. Mario Turcot, General Manager of Desjardins Entreprises, had the honor of presenting the Municipality in the Spotlight award to the Atikamekw community of Manawan for their involvement in the economic development of their community. The Auberge Manawan, the Auberge Manawan restaurant and the Bois Énergie Manawan machining company were the three (3) achievements honoured. Ms. Thérèse Niquay, Director of Community Services and Projects for the Conseil des Atikamekw de Manawan, said she was very moved by this recognition, and emphasized that this was only the beginning of a broader revitalization process that is part of the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan drawn up by the Conseil des Atikamekw de Manawan. The ultimate goal is to promote tourism development in Manawan and maximize the community's financial spin-offs by generating independent revenues.

So it was in a most inspiring atmosphere that this 3^e edition of the Souper tournant des gens d'affaires en Matawinie was held. We would like to thank all our partners and collaborators, who contributed to the evening's success.
