ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS ANNOUNCE THREE-YEAR SECTORAL AGREEMENT

Joliette, February 5, 2018 - The Ministère de l'Économie, de la Science et de l'Innovation, the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Occupation du territoire, the Table des préfets de Lanaudière, the 6 Lanaudière regional county municipalities (RCMs), the RCMs' economic development departments and organizations, the Community Futures Development Corporations and Lanaudière Économique were proud to announce the following projects this morning Sectoral development agreement to support implementation of the Lanaudière Économique 2016-2020 action plan.
The objectives of this sectoral agreement are to carry out activities related to common local and regional economic development issues, promote entrepreneurship, improve business performance, develop the skills of the region's socio-economic players, develop projects contributing to economic vitality, foster concerted economic development and support the structure.
"This agreement was made possible thanks to partners committed to local and regional economic development, for the benefit of communities and businesses alike. This action plan is based on a shared desire to contribute to the development of the Lanaudière region, and we can be proud of that," said Mr.me Lise Thériault, Minister responsible for Consumer Protection and Housing and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière region.
Louis-Charles Thouin, President of the Table des préfets, emphasized that "all elected officials in the Lanaudière region are firmly committed to supporting local and regional economic development. As such, we are aware that concerted action by economic players is a key factor in structuring the region's development. To this end, the concerted and complementary work of a regional player such as Lanaudière Économique is of paramount importance.
"For over 25 years, Lanaudière Économique's leadership has been recognized by all the region's economic development players. Thanks to the three-year sectoral agreement, Lanaudière Économique will pursue its commitment to its mission with conviction. The actions deployed under this agreement will complement the work of local economic development organizations, enhance the services available to our businesses and respond to common local and regional economic development issues. Lanaudière Économique is the expression of our desire to join forces for the benefit of economic development and support for entrepreneurship," concludes Oliver Goyet, President of Lanaudière Économique.
